  UPDATED: 2006-11-18

On August 4, 2006 a tornado (a waterspout, to be more precise, as it was a tornado over water) hit the sea of Hvarski Kanal (the sea channel between the islands of Brac and Hvar), close to the southwestern seashore of the island of Brac. It is a very rare event for that part of Europe. Two successive funnels were formed within about five minutes; when the second one was vanishing, multiple but weak vortices appeared.
