Rome,
Italy
This
false-color image was made using Landsat 7 data (ETM+ bands 3, 2,
and 1) acquired on August 3, 2001. Founded on seven hills along
the banks of the Tiber River, in this image the city appears as a
grayish mass. The Tiber River wends its way down the center of the
image and through the heart of Rome before flowing into the
Mediterranean. The Coliseum, the Pantheon, and the rest of ancient
Rome are located in the pinkish area at the center of the city on
the big bend in the Tiber River. [ZOOM
