Unless they are mating, or fighting to mate, elephant seals mostly rest while on a beach. All in good time, three thousand pound elephant seals are playing, flipping sand on their backs, hopping about, snuggling with their siblings, snorting, honking and rolling around. Youngsters play in the surf while learning to swim.
