Colorado Desert, California : map & aerial view

The deserts of North America. From Mojave Desert which is an upland desert (even the basins lie more than two thousand feet above the sea level),  you enter the Sonoran Desert, a lowland desert, in its most arid subdivision, the Colorado desert. It wraps around the head of the Gulf of California at the Colorado River Delta while the Colorado River forms its eastern border. Much of the Colorado Desert lies at or below sea level.
