The annual precipitation of the Colorado Desert rarely exceeds four inches. The meager rainfall supports such drought-tolerant vegetation as desert scrub, creosote bush, saltbush, and tamarisk; then, in the transition areas to the Mojave Desert, Joshua trees come along.
