The world of the Arabs. The Economist of July 25, 2009 has helped me to clear some of my confusion on the contemporary Arabs, both geographical and political data. True, these are loose identities apparently united into Arab League (22 countries, including the unborn Palestinian state) but this is a heterogeneous agglomeration of some 350 million people being neither an ethnic nor a religious nor a language group. The only uniting force, for some time now, seems to be the hate of Israel and the abuse of basic human rights (western type, that is).
